About The Role

Weโ€™re looking for a talented Product Designer to join our team on a part-time, freelance basis. Youโ€™ll work closely with our Product Manager and engineering team to deliver thoughtful, user-centric design solutions that support our rapidly evolving scheduling platform.

This role is ideal for a designer who has experience collaborating with cross-functional teams, working within complex design systems, and enjoys the unique pace and ambiguity of early-stage product development.

Responsibilities

  • Design Execution: Lead the creation of intuitive, high-quality user interfaces that elevate the product experience โ€” from initial concepts and prototypes to polished, production-ready designs. Ensure designs are user-friendly, visually appealing, and consistent with M7โ€™s design principles.
  • Collaborative Problem Solving: Partner with the Product Manager and engineering teams to ideate, scope, and iterate on product features and user workflows. Drive design solutions that meet both user needs and technical constraints, ensuring seamless product development.
  • User-Centered Design: Champion a user-first approach to design by gathering and synthesizing user feedback, analyzing data, and conducting research to make informed design decisions. Advocate for user experience improvements while balancing business objectives.
  • Iterative Workflow: Rapidly prototype, test, and refine designs through an iterative process, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams. Incorporate user and stakeholder feedback to continuously enhance the product.
  • Cross-Functional Communication: Present and articulate design concepts, rationale, and user benefits clearly to product, engineering, and other internal teams. Ensure alignment between teams by effectively communicating design goals and updates at all stages of the development process.

About You

  • Design Experience: You have 3โ€“5 years of experience as a product designer, working on web or mobile applications. You've designed in fast-paced, cross-functional environments and have a portfolio that showcases user-centered design solutions across web
  • Complex System Experience: You have experience working with intricate design systems that manage and display large datasets in an accessible, user-friendly way. Experience designing for scheduling platforms or other data-heavy tools is a strong plus.
  • Collaboration: Youโ€™ve built strong partnerships with Product Managers, Engineers, and other stakeholders throughout the product development lifecycle. Youโ€™re adept at translating product goals into thoughtful, innovative design solutions.
  • Attention to Detail: You create designs that are not only aesthetically pleasing but also meticulously crafted with a focus on consistency, usability, and accessibility.
  • Adaptability: You excel in fast-paced, evolving environments and are comfortable with ambiguity. When faced with incomplete or shifting information, you find creative and pragmatic ways to move forward.
  • Attitude and Culture: You consistently come prepared and actively listen/engage with the opinions of others. You have a perspective on how to get the job done, and practice the mantra of โ€œstrong opinions, loosely heldโ€ in problem solving/team discussions. You are passionate about M7โ€™s mission of elevating the nursing profession and demonstrate that passion in interactions with your teammates and external partners.

Hybrid Environment

We believe a regular cadence of in-person collaboration accelerates learning, reinforces team culture, and drives efficiency for early-stage companies. In this spirit, we work in a hybrid structure, co-locating in our Manhattan, NYC office one week per month, Tuesday-Thursday.
